This new Olympus Mons Cube S from La Sportiva is now the latest version of their premier extreme cold weather high altitude climbing boot for summits like Mt Everest, Denali, K2, as well as many other peaks in the Himalayas.  This boot will become the benchmark standard to which all other similar boots available will be compared.  The unique incorporated dual BOA® fast lacing dial system allows you to quickly and easily fine tune the fit of these boots without having to remove bulky handwear as feet swell and situations change, and segments the lacing between the upper and lower sections of the inner boot.  These boots also have a very unique removable inner boot system that actually incorporates two separate removable thermal booties for comfort and customization.  Your boots are arguably the most important piece of gear that you need for mountaineering, so take the time to choose your gear wisely and make the best decision.  The regular “Olympus Mons Cube” version of these boots has Ski Trab Tech inserts in the toe for long expedition-style approaches and flat extreme cold weather tours on skis, but has reported fit issues with certain crampons and is not designed for skiing downhill, and so this “Olympus Mons Cube S” version is the model that most climbers will want.  These are the most high-tech state-of-the-art high altitude mountaineering boots that have ever been created.  While boots like these can be a significant investment for many climbers, the proper footwear is worth every penny and will be money well spent.
